Lost in Translation
Life has a funny way of throwing curveballs at us, and one of those curveballs that hits you square in the face, leaving you with bruised eyes, is when you’re misunderstood by people while trying to be helpful. It makes you question whether pollen can really mess with people’s minds and judgment.
To lift my spirits, I’ll just go ahead and assume that we’ve all had our fair share of such delightful misadventures.
In the spirit of the girl scout oath I pledged way too many moons ago, I stepped up to offer a helping hand, only to have my intentions interpreted in the most mind-boggling way possible — as if I were plotting to take advantage of them. Trying to defend myself feels about as effective as coaching the Raiders’ defense team, and I see no logical reason to continue exhausting myself.
Why waste precious energy on clearing my name and integrity when I’d much rather invest the same amount of energy pondering life’s more important questions, such as whether pineapples belong on pizza or if Rachel and Ross were truly on a break.
