Some of you might recall a fictional character created by one of my favorite comedians, Angelah Johson, called Bon Qui Qui back in the mid-2000s. Johnson portrayed a sassy and rude fast food employee and got into humorous interactions with customers.
The fictional character belted out “Security!” in the most absurd fashion, but who says we cannot tweak the script for our own daily drama while keeping the humor alive?
In 2024, forget those resolutions that fizzle out faster than a firework on January 15th. This year, I’m simplifying things — I’ve decided to repurpose Bon Qui Qui’s Security, because if it can handle the chaos at King Burger, it sure can handle my mental gymnastics.
No more elaborate lists of who-am-I-kidding and nah-this-can-wait goals. Instead, I’m assigning Bon Qui Qui’s Security to be my guardian of sanity and brain checkpoint. Consider it my personal mental bouncer, making sure only good vibes get past the velvet rope of my consciousness. Let’s see those stressors try to cut the line now!
